Hi there! My name is Heidi, and I’m the creator of Wintertime Crafts. I was born and raised in a small town in Denmark but moved to California in 2014 to be with my now husband and his 2 kids.
I’m a creative soul with a background in graphic design and photography. I love pixels, paper, and pandas—in no particular order. I'm obsessed with details and nostalgia is my favorite word.
I consider myself an ephemerist, or as my husband would say: a crazy paper collector. My collection of vintage ephemera now consists of more than 12,000 pieces of tickets, letters, advertisements, postcards, book pages, photographs, and so much more! Looking through these fragments of history brings me so much joy and inspiration.
Why the name Wintertime Crafts?
In Scandinavia winters are long, dark, and cold. We spend most of the season indoors embracing hygge (a cozy, comfortable feeling and a content state of mind) however we can. For me, that often means snuggling up under a warm blanket, grabbing a cup of hot chocolate, listening to some good music—and being creative!
One winter I was folding some so-called Froebel paper stars to give to friends and family for Christmas. I wanted the stars to have a more distressed ink splatter look and after trying out different methods I quickly learned that clear stamps worked best for my project. Unfortunately, the stamps I had in my collection at the time were too small and I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for anywhere. Long story short: I ended up having my own stamps professionally made.
The stars became quite popular and a few people also reached out asking about the stamps I'd used. In 2016, I opened my Etsy shop, offering a small selection of handmade Christmas products and my first clear stamp sets.
Today, the paper stars are gone—I simply don’t have the time needed to make them anymore—but my line of exclusive paper crafting products has grown significantly. My passion and main focus is on designing and offering unique, high-quality supplies that’ll help anyone achieve a beautiful vintage look in their creations!
