Project: Decorated Rolodex Card

Project: Decorated Rolodex Card

I rarely have the time to sit down and be really crafty (you know, the very messy kind with an hour-long cleanup to follow), so when I do get an hour or two I prefer working on small projects. I love Rolodex cards and always have a bunch of vintage ones lying around. Small surfaces like these are perfect for me because they’re just the right size for layering a few beautiful pieces without overthinking anything.

As I’m sure you know, my go-to is always washi tape with more washi tape! Tearing it, layering it, and mixing patterns is just fun and easy—and undoable! I change my mind quite a bit while crafting, so washi tape is a real lifesaver. I often see confusion about what washi tape actually is, and some people even tell me their washi tape just sits in a bin collecting dust. I hope this video inspires you to just play with your tapes!

When I design my PET tapes, like the Inked (black version) used in this project, I always keep versatility in mind. The elements are meant to be cut however you prefer and layered in many different ways. The transparent finish makes it easy to test placements and see exactly what works for your project. Unlike washi tape, these aren’t easily repositionable, but that’s rarely a problem, since being able to test the placement first is a crafter’s dream!

Don't overthink it. Creativity begins with play! Focus on small projects like this one if that helps you get started.
